PEI Model Forest Network Partnership

The PEI Model Forest Network Partnership is a Model Forest Network project operating as an adjunct to the Nova Forest Alliance. Officially launched in July of 2003, the Partnership's Vision is to "Improve the quality, size, and biodiversity of the Prince Edward Island forest."

By offering programs and services that will help enhance awareness of the environmental (ecological) and economic potential of sustainable forest management in Prince Edward Island, the Partnership will endeavor to build a broad-based partnership that will consider the views of all those interested in PEI’s forest future. The Partnership will support education, demonstration, and/or research projects, building on the existing projects and research of the Nova Forest Alliance and tailoring those results to the distinct challenges of Prince Edward Island.

The project launch was held at the Sir Andrew Macphail Homestead/Macphail Woods Project, at Orwell, PEI on July 25th, 2003. The partnership funding of $100,000 from Natural Resources Canada was announced by the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Member of Parliament for Cardigan PEI, on behalf of on behalf of the Honourable Herb Dhaliwal, Minister of Natural Resources Canada.
